Summary:
Analyzing petroleum and hydrocarbon mixtures using gas chromatography on various instruments with integration software.
Duties include maintaining instrumentation, developing analytical methods, refining and improving current techniques, troubleshooting processes, documenting results and training personnel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
o Performs all job assignments in a safe manner according to Airgas SOPs.
o Continuously checking cylinders, equipment, surroundings and individuals for possible unsafe conditions.
Reporting and correcting unsafe conditions by using appropriate means.
o Analyzing multi-component hydrocarbon mixtures, both gases and liquids, using gas chromatography and process analyzers per Airgas SOPs.
o Analyzing raw hydrocarbons, both liquids and gases, for impurities and effectively recording and reporting the results for the gravimetric blenders.
o Accurately documenting all analytical results per Airgas SOPs in a clear, comprehensive, interpretable manner.
o Reviewing and approving analytical results, certificates of analysis and associated documentation per Airgas SOPs and customer requirements.
o Troubleshooting analytical methods and instrument operation in an immediate and accurate manner.
o Providing technical support or assistance to fellow technicians.
o Assisting in the qualification and maintenance of laboratory standards including proper labeling, documentation, storage and presentation.
o Assisting in the setup and maintenance of laboratory instruments and keeping maintenance records for laboratory instruments per Airgas SOPs.
o Acting as a substitute analyst during periods when other analyst are absent from work.
o Monitoring lead times and effectively prioritizing workloads.
o Participating as a team member on special projects.
o Keep a clean and orderly work area o Other job duties as may be assigned.

o Understanding the basic theory of gas chromatography o Multitasking/ Operating several instruments at one time.
o Ability to effectively present and communicate information to co-workers o Use basic hand tools and miscellaneous equipment such as wrenches, tubing cutters, regulators, and cylinder carts.
o Ability to perform the essential functions necessary to operate a gas chromatograph.
o Demonstrating an eagerness to learn, being inquisitive, displaying a thirst for knowledge, having an inquiring mind and being goal oriented.
o Ability to work with Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft Outlook.
o Demonstrating proficiency in the performance, interpretation and troubleshooting of gas chromatographs by reviewing results and relevant documentation is critical.
EDUCATION and/or
Experience:
o High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum 3 years of experience in a specialty gas lab and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
o Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related science.
o Must be able to demonstrate competency in all areas listed above.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
o Must have reliable, appropriate transportation.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
o Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) COMMUNICATION and/or CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS:
o Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
o Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, safety data sheets and procedure manuals using the English language.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
o Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
o Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent's.
o Must be able to perform specialty gas forward/ back calculations.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
